Embossed Background, Halloween, Halloween

Creating a Dimensional Halloween Card featuring Honey Bee Stamps

Hi friends. A quick way to create a dimensional background with little effort is to use an embossing folder. We all have a bunch of embossing folders we bought when it was all the rage to emboss everything and now they sit in a drawer or craft room shelf collecting dust. Am I right?!? Come on, you know it’s true??? LOL Well thankfully they are coming back in fashion and there are so many techniques you can do with them. Today we are keeping it simple — just some ink and a blender. No fancy tools needed either.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create the card base. Then cut a piece measuring 4 x 5-1/4″ and embossed with the Stampin’ Up! Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder (retired); any spiderweb embossing folder will work here.

I used mostly Seedless Preserves and Villainous Poison Distress Oxide Inks to color the background. Then lightly went over the raised cobwebs with some Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink. I sprayed some water on the background to distress it further.

I stamped the all the images from the Honey Bee Stamps Pumpkin Patch Stampset onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Midnight Ink and heat set with Clear Embossing Powder. Then colored the pumpkin with Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey Distress Oxide Inks. I colored the leaves with Twisted Citron, Rustic Wilderness, and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Inks. I used Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink for the flowers.

I stamped the ghost and bat images from Lawn Fawn Happy Haunting stampset and colored them with Copic Markers. I used C00, 0 and R20 for the ghosts. And then diecut them with the coordinating dies.

I stamped the sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps Boo 3×4 Stamp Set onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Midnight Ink and die cut the ‘boo’ from Simon Says Stamp Cardstock 100# Black 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock 3x with the Honey Bee Boo Dies. I finished it off by adding some glitter with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen.

On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Queen and Company Halloween Hoopla Kit with with Midnight Ink and added an extra ghost.

Birthdays, Embossed Background, Summer

Sweet Square Birthday Card featuring Lawn Fawn Henry’s ABCs

Hi friends. I had to make another summer card with the Lawn Fawn Zesty Lemon and Lawn Fawn Strawberry Patch die sets! This time I paired it with the cute mice from Lawn Fawn You Autumn Know Stampset. I will definitely be using these critters on other cards for sure.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 5-1/2 x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″ to create the card base. I diecut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with the 5 x 5″ scallop stitched square from the Queen & Company Foundation 16 dies. I also die cut a top panel (measuring from 4-1/16 x 4-1/16″) from Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gingham Rainbow 12×12 Pack with the Queen & Company Foundation 16 dies and hand cut a back panel to 5-1/2 x 5-1/2″,

Next, I die cut the fruit from Stampin’ Up! So Saffron 8-1/2 x 11″, Simon Says Stamp 100# Green Apple Cardstock, Simon Says Stamp 100# Leaf Green Cardstock, Lawn Fawn 100# Guava Cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Zesty Lemon and Lawn Fawn Strawberry Patch Die, and Lawn Fawn Fruit Basket.

I colored them with Distress Oxide Inks. I used Tim Holtz Mustard Seed and Mowed Lawn for the lemons and limes, Festive Berries for the strawberries, Rustic Wilderness for the leaves, and Tumbled Glass for the fruit basket.

I stamped the mice from Lawn Fawn You Autumn Know Stampset onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I used E53, E23, E27, R20, 0 and die cut with the coordinating dies.

I stamped the sentiment from Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink. I stamped part of it into the lemon at the bottom right. I also die cut the word ‘SWEET’ from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock and Simon Says Stamp #100 Cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Henry’s ABCs.

I finished the card by adding sime highlights with a White Signo Gel Pen.

On the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gingham Rainbow 12×12 Pack to 1 x 5-1/2″ and stamped a sentiment from Stampin’ Up!’s Sweet Ice Cream Stampset (retired) with Festive Berries Distress Oxide Ink.

Birthdays, Distress Ink Techniques, Slimline, Summer

Zesty Slimline Birthday Card featuring Lawn Fawn

Hi friends. I couldn’t resist but CASE this card from Lawn Fawn Design Team member, Tammy Stark, featuring the cute Zesty Lemon Die. I used similar colors on the background but a different technique, changed the sentiment and a different border.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 7โ€ณ x 8-1/2โ€ณ and scored at 3-1/2โ€ณ to create the card base. I diecut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with the stitched slimline frame from the Essentials Slimline Die. I also cut a piece measuring 3-1/8 x 6-1/8″.

I used Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, and Wild Honey Distress Inks fro the background, using the ink smoosh technique and also added some splatters. I also added white splatters with White Acrylic Paint.

I die cut the lemons and limes from Stampin’ Up! So Saffron 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock and Simon Says Stamp 100# Green Apple Cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Zesty Lemon Die. The leaves I die cut from Simon Says Stamp 100# Green Leaf Cardstock, the flowers, piths, and whole lemon backs from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock and the flower centers and cheeks from Lawn Fawn Guava 100# 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock.

I colored the images with Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Inks.

I die cut the sentiment word ‘ZEST’ 2x from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using Lawn Fawn Henry’s ABCs and colored one set with Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I stamped the rest of the sentiment directly onto the card from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy Clear Stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I finished the card by adding white highlights with White Gel Pen.

I left the inside of the card blank.

Distress Ink Techniques, Embossed Background, Hello, Love & Friendship, Summer

Two Mini Slimline Cards featuring Lawn Fawn Zesty Lemon

Hi friends. I couldn’t resist getting the cute Zesty Lemon Die set from Lawn Fawn when I saw it! For my first cards I decided to make some embossed backgrounds and my distress sprays. These will also be available in my Etsy Shop.

For the both cards, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 7โ€ณ x 6โ€ณ and scored at 3-1/2โ€ณ to create the card bases. I diecut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with the stitched frame 3x to stack them and the scallop rectangle from the Queen & Company Foundation 17 dies. I also die cut one of the stitched smaller rectangles from the same set as well as a piece measuring 3 x 5-3/4″.

I embossed the two rectangles with the Darice 5 x 7 Plaid Embossing Folder then colored them using Distress Sprays. I used Broken China and Salty Ocean for the first card and Picked Raspberry and Carved Pumpkin for the second. In retrospect, I would water down the colors on the pink/orange background a bit more. Once all was dry, I added some splashed with White Acrylic Paint.

For the lemons and leaves, I die cut them from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Zesty Lemon set. I used Distress Oxide Inks to color them. I used Squeezed Lemonade for the lemons, Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness for the leaves and Picked Raspberry for the flower centers and the cheeks.

For the sentiments, on the first card I used the Honey Bee Tailgate Alphabet Dies to spell out “ZEST” which I die cut from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock (which I colored with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink) and Simon Says Stamp 100lb Black Card Stock. The rest of the sentiment came from the Lawn Fawn Sweet Friends Stampset and was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto the same white cardstock.

On the second card, I diecut the “hello” from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock (which I colored with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink) and Simon Says Stamp 100lb Black Card Stock using the Simon Says stamp Bold Hello Die. I added some shimmer with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen.

I left the insides of the cards blank.

Birthdays, Summer

Strawberry Wreath Card (feat. Lawn Fawn)

Hi friends. I love making wreath cards so for this one I made a strawberry wreath combining the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Floral Wreath Add-on with the Lawn Fawn How You Bean Strawberries Add-on stampset and dies.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create the card base. I also die cut a piece of Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gignham Rainbow 12×12 Collection Pack using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ and a piece of Vellum to 3-3/4 x 5″ with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables.

I diecut the wreath, several leaves and tiny flowers from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Floral Wreath Add-on. I colored them with Copic Markers. I used YG17 + G07 for the leaves and wreath and Y13 + Y18 for the flower fronts (I left the backs white). I stamped the strawberries from the Lawn Fawn How You Bean Strawberries Add-on stampset with Memento Tuxedo Ink onto some Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. I used R22, R05, R27, YG05 + G07.

For the sentiment, I die cut “Sweet” using the Catherine Pooler Stamp of Approval Celebrate Friends ‘Sweet’ Die (retired) 3 times from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock an stamped the rest of the sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy Stampset onto the Vellum panel using Staz-on Jet Black Ink.

Lastly, I finished it off by adding some Tonic Gloss Simply White Nuvo Crystal Drops to the yellow flowers an the corners of the vellum panel.

On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Stampin’ Up’s Biggest Wish Stampset with Catherine Pooler Limoncello Ink and Memento Tuxedo Ink. I adhered a piece of the pink gingham paper (featured on the front of the card), measuring 1 x 4-1/4″ as well as a strawberry.

Birthdays, Shaker, Summer

Combining Dies to Make a Background: Strawberry Jar Shaker Card (feat. Lawn Fawn)

Hi friends. I tried something new with my background dies which gave me a cool 3-dimensional background. I combined the Catherine Pooler Designs Narrow Stripe Cover Plate and the Catherine Pooler Designs Sprinkles Mini Cover Plate to create this fun background. It was super easy. Here’s how I did it…

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create the card base. I also cut a piece of Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gignham Rainbow 12×12 Collection Pack to 4 x 5-1/4″ for the top panel. I die cut two pieces of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with the frame from the Catherine Pooler Designs Sprinkles Mini Cover Plate (3/4 x 4-1/2″) and then used the Catherine Pooler Designs Narrow Stripe Cover Plate to diecut that piece. Then added every other stripe to the rectangle panel I previously die cut to create a tone-on-tone 3-d effect for my background.

I stamped and colored all my images from the Lawn Fawn How You Bean? and Lawn Fawn How You Bean? Strawberries Add-on stampsets. I stamped them onto some Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink. I colored the images with Copic Markers. I used BG000 + 0 for the mason jar and R22, R05 + R27 and YG05 + G07 for the strawberries. Then I die cut all the images using the coordinating dies.

For the mason jar shaker, instead of using foam tape (which would be a slight pain to add due to the small size) I diecut about 7 mason jars from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using the Lawn Fawn How You Bean? Shaker Add-on and stacked them. I diecut the acetate piece with the same die set (using the background die included) as well as the backing piece for the shaker which I colored with the same copic markers (BG000 + 0).

For the shaker element, I used Queen & Co Toppings in Pink and Clear Diamonds and some older Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts and Stars Glitter (no longer available).

For the sentiment, I stamped one from the Lawn Fawn How You Bean? Strawberries Add-on stampset onto some Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink and cut it down to 3/4 x 1″ and popped it onto the card using some 3M Foam Tape.

Lastly, I finished it off by adding some highlights with a White Gel Pen. One note: I added the highlights to the strawberries on the inside before adhering it inside the shaker element. I also added some Ruby Slipper Nuvo Glitter Drops to the card.

On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn How You Bean? stampset with Stampin’ Up! Real Red Ink. I also added a strip of the same pattern paper from the front of the card measuring 1 x 4-1/4″ and adhered 1/2 a strawberry image I had left over.

Get Well Soon, Love & Friendship, Watercolor techniques

Get Well Soon Bear Card (feat. Lawn Fawn)

Hi friends. Here’s a quick and easy cut little get well card featuring the Lawn Fawn Here For You Bear stampset.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 4-1/2 x 9″ and scored at 4-1/2″ to create the card base.

I cut a piece of Montval Acid-Free Cold Press Watercolor Paper, 140 lb, 18 X 24 in, Natural White to about 4-1/4 x 4-1/4″ and used the Catherine Pooler ink refills in Party Dress, Tiki Torch, Limoncello, Lime Rickey, Something Borrowed, and Grape Crush to create drips on the panel. I just squirted a dot of the ink onto the very top of the panel then using a brush dripped water onto it and let it run down the page. I added some splashes with a few of the same inks.

Then I diecut the panel using the second largest die from the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 6/PK – Squares, Scallop (4-1/8 x 4-1/8″). I cut a piece of Vellum with the next smaller scallop square (3-3/8 x 3-3/8″) as well. I stamped a background with the raindrop from Lawn Fawn’s Here For You Bear stampset with Ranger Archival Manganese Blue onto the vellum piece.

I stamped the images and sentiments from Lawn Fawn’s Here For You Bear stampset onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored the images with Copic Markers.

I used Y02, Y13 & Y18, E33, E37 & E29, E00 & E33 (nose) for the bear; R14 & R27, Y13 & Y18, B02 & B06 for the rainbow; BG000 & 0 for the clouds and the puddles. I fussycut the images and trimmed the sentiment strips to 7/16 x 2-1/2 and 7/16 x 1-3/4 and added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the rainbows to pop them up.

I finished off the card by adding some Morning Dew Nuvo Drops.

On the inside of the card, I stamped another sentiment and rainbow from Lawn Fawn’s Here For You Bear stampset with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Birthdays, Shaker

Strawberry Shaker Card (feat. Lawn Fawn)

Hi friends. I had lots of fun making this cute strawberry shaker card using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Strawberry Die Cuts and Lawn Fawn Strawberry Patch Die Cuts. I love that this large strawberry die comes with face elements you can add to make it cuter.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create the card base. I also cut a piece of Stampin’ Up! Real Red 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock to 4-1/2 x 4-1/2″ for the top panel. I die cut the strawberry window from the panel using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Strawberry Die Cuts.

Next, I die cut a ton of the seeds with the same die set from Simon Says Stamp 100# Black Cardstock and adhered them around the window. I diecut the leaves from Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Strawberry Die Cuts and Lawn Fawn Strawberry Patch Die Cuts from Authentique 6 x 6 Emerald Papers (retired) and added some dimension by coloring them with Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn Distress Oxides Ink. I cut the flowers from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock and colored the back piece with Lawn Fawn Guava Ink.

Next, I built the shaker element by adding a piece of Acetate behind the window and two layers of 3M Foam Tape behind. I added shaker bits from Queen and Company Fruit Toppings, Pastel Diamonds Toppings, and pink pearls from Bring On Spring Topping Refill. I sealed the shaker by adding a piece of Lawn Fawn 100lb Guava 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock.

For the sentiment, I stamped part of it from the Lawn Fawn HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Stampset and the rest from Lawn Fawn Simply Sentiments onto some Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink and cut them down into strips. To finish off the sentiment, I die cut the word “BERRY” from Tim Holtz Idea-ology 8 X 8 Paper Stash Metallic Jewels Kraft Stock with Honey Bee Tailgate Alphabet Dies. I also added the eyes and a mouth from the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Strawberry Die Cuts which I cut from Simon Says Stamp 100# Black Cardstock.

Lastly, I finished it off by adding some highlights with a White Gel Pen.

I left the inside of the card blank.

Birthdays

Pattern Paper vs. Ink Blending (feat. Lawn Fawn Strawberry Dies)

Hi friends. I saw a video by Nicol Spohr comparing these two techniques with Easter Cards and I thought it would be cute to try it with the strawberry dies from Lawn Fawn.

For the first card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock to 7 x10″ and scored at 5″ to create the card base. I also cut a piece of Lawn Fawn GOTTA HAVE GINGHAM RAINBOW 6 x 6 Collection Pack cut to 4-3/4″ x 6″ and a piece of Doodlebug CUTE AND CRAFTY 12×12 Inch Petite Print Assortment Paper Pack cut to 4-3/4 x 6-3/4″ for the top panel. To seperate the two papers I added Love From Lizi Pin Stripe Peel-Off Stickers in Lilac Mirror.

I diecut the bowl, strawberries, and leaves from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Strawberry Patch Die Cuts and Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Strawberry Die Cuts. Then used distress oxide inks to color all the pieces. I used Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Inks for the strawberry fronts and sprayed some water on them with a Distress Sprayer bottle, Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink for the strawberry backs, Black Soot Distress Ink for the eyes and mouth, Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink for the cheeks, Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks for the leaves, Broken China Distress Oxide Ink for the bowl, Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick and Tumbled Glass for the flowers.

After I adhered all the images to the card, I stamped a bee and a bee trail onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock from the Simon Says Clear Stamps BEE YOURSELF Stampset with Memento Tuxedo Ink and colored it with Copic Markers. I used Y13, Y17 & Y18, N5 & N8, R20, BG000 & 0. I popped him up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn HOW YOU BEAN STRAWBERRIES ADD-ON Clear Stamps and Dies onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink and cut it to 3/8 x 2-7/8″.

I finished it off by adding some highlights to the strawberries with a White Gel Pen and Tonic Ruby Slipper Nuvo Glitter Drops to the white flowers and Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops to the eyes.

On the inside of the card, I adhered a piece of Lawn Fawn GOTTA HAVE GINGHAM RAINBOW 6 x 6 Collection Pack cut to 1 x 5″ and a piece of 1-3/16 x 5″ of Doodlebug CUTE AND CRAFTY 12×12 Inch Petite Print Assortment Paper Pack. Then diecut the word ‘happy’ from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock with Honey Bee Stamps Donut Worry Dies (retired) and colored it with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink to create an ombre effect. I stamped a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn How You Bean? Stampset with Memento Tuxedo Ink. I also added a small strawberry to the bottom.
