Slimline Christmas House Card featuring Scrappy Tails Crafts

Hello friends. This festive holiday card features several of the Scrappy Tails Crafts add-on dies for the Slimline Bird House Pop Up Card Metal Die. These are tons of fun to play with and quickly becoming another favorite house builder set. These standalone dies are especially great for those of you who dislike or struggle with stamping.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 9 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/2″ to create the card base, which I inked with Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Oxide and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks to create a gradient background.

I die cut the house and chimney from Stampin’ Up! Sahara Sand 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock with Slimline Bird House Pop Up Card Metal Die and then used the Slimline Brick Background Metal Craft Die to emboss the brick pattern onto them. I inked around the edges of both pieces with Stampin’ Up! Sahara Sand Ink. I diecut the roof, window frames and base from Simon Says Stamp Cardstock 100# Slate Gray 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock using the Slimline Bird House Pop Up Card Metal Die and German and American Christmas House Add-On Metal Craft Die and inked around them with Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray Ink. I also backed the windows with panels I cut from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ and inked with Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress Ink.

I die cut the snow and pots for the Christmas trees (using the German and American Christmas House Add-On Metal Craft Die) and the lights strings (using the Christmas House Roof Add-On Metal Craft Die) from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″. I colored the light string with a green marker, then diecut the lights from red, green, yellow and aqua cardstock from my stash. The door was cut from Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock using the Slimline Neighborhood House Pop Up – Add On Die and inked the pieces with Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler Ink; the door knobs were cut from Tim Holtz Idea-ology 8 x 8 Paper Stash Metallic Kraft Stock.

All the greenery was die cut from Bazzill Basics – 12 x 12 Parakeet Cardstock and inked with Catherine Pooler Eucalyptus Ink. And the bows and ornaments for the trees were die cut from Stampin’ Up! Red & Green 12″ X 12″ Foil Sheets.

I finished it off by adding some splatters with White Acrylic Paint and Tonic Fresh Snowfall Nuvo Glitter Accents to the snow and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Metallic Bright Gold to the garland and wreaths on the door.

On the inside of the card, I die cut a sentiment from Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock using the Stampin’ Up! Word Wishes Dies and added another small wreath.

Holiday Card featuring Catherine Pooler’s Wrapped and Ready Stampset

Hello friends. This little car from Catherine Pooler Wrapped and Ready Stampset is so cute! I also love how large it is so it covers a good portion of an A2 card or a mini slimline card as well. In a previous post I created a mini slimline card using this stampset.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create the card base and piece of to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2” for the top panel, which I colored using Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Inks then diecut using Catherine Pooler’s Scallops & Dots Dies and embossed the panel with one of Queen and Company’s Embossing Folder Bundle folders.

I stamped the car image and several ornaments from the Catherine Pooler Wrapped and Ready Stampset onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and the sentiment with Catherine Pooler Rockin Red Ink.

I colored the car with Copic Markers. I used R05, R17 & R46; Y02 and Y18; and C1, C3, C5, C7 & C9 for the car. R05, R17 & R46; Y02 and Y18; C1, C3, C5, C7; YG01, YG25, YG17; BV11 & BV08; YR14 & YR16; B00 & B02; and R81 & R85 for the gifts; and R05, R17 & R46; YG01, YG25, YG17; and C1, C3, C5 for the ornaments. I used a White Uni-Ball Gel Pen to add highlights to the car.

I adhered the sentiment and some of the ornaments using 3M Foam Tape. I finished it off by adding Ranger Glossy Accents Glue to the windshield.

I left the inside of the card empty.

Quick Mini Slimline Holiday Card

Hello friends. Need a quick Holiday card?!? Here’s a mini slimline card that took little time to make. The coloring is the most time consuming but you can just do flat coloring (no shading) to save time.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 6 x 6″ and scored at 3″ to create the card base and piece of to 3 x 6” for the top panel, which I diecut with the Catherine Pooler Marquise Slimline Cover Plate Die.

I stamped the car image from the Catherine Pooler Wrapped and Ready Stampset onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and the sentiment with Catherine Pooler Rockin Red Ink.

I colored the car with Copic Markers. I used Y02 and Y15; YG25, YG17 and G28; and C1, C3, C5 & C7 for the car. R05, R17 & R46; Y02 and Y15; YG25, YG17 and G28; C1, C3 & C5; BV11 & BV08; YR14 & YR16; B00, B02, & B04; and R81 & R85 for the gifts. I adhered it to the card using 3M Foam Tape.

I finished it off by adding some Nuvo Rosewater and Key Lime Jewel Drops .

Easy Slimline Holiday Card – Using Embossing Folder to Add Texture to Focal Image

Hello friends. I’m loving this Retro Ornament Dieset from Catherine Pooler! The images are large enough to cover an A2 size card and really great on a slimline card. I went for a more traditional color but then decided to try a little less traditional color scheme.

For these cards, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 7 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 3-1/2″ to create the card bases and piece of to 3-1/4 x 8-1/4” for the top panel. For the first card, I used the Catherine Pooler’s Rouge and Eucalyptus Inks to color white cardstock using direct-to-paper technique. Then diecut three rectangles using Catherine Pooler’s Scallops & Dots Dies. I adhered them offset.

I die cut the ornaments from gold cardstock from Tim Holtz Idea-ology 8 x 8 Paper Stash METALLIC KRAFT STOCK using the Retro Ornament Dieset. I embossed them with two embossing folders from Queen and Company’s Embossing Folder Bundle and backed them with Vellum before adhering them. I stamped a sentiment from the Catherine Pooler Wrapped and Ready Stampset onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Rouge Ink, trimmed it down and added 3M Foam Tape to adhere it to the card.

I finished it off by adding some Tonic Pale Gold Nuvo Crystal Drops.

On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! ‘Joy to the World’ Paper Pumpkin stampset (Paper Pumpkin is a subscription box so this stampset is not available for purchase) with Eucalyptus Ink and adhered the gold star shape that I had cut out of one of the ornaments.

For the second card, I used the Catherine Pooler’s Suede Shoes and Cummerbund Inks to color white cardstock using direct-to-paper technique and diecut the three rectangles using Catherine Pooler’s Scallops & Dots Dies once again. I die cut the ornaments from silver cardstock instead and embossed them with the two same embossing folders from Queen and Company’s Embossing Folder Bundle and backed them with Vellum before adhering them. I stamped a sentiment from the Catherine Pooler Wrapped and Ready Stampset with Cummerbund Ink, trimmed it down and added 3M Foam Tape to adhere it to the card.

I finished it off by adding some Liquid Mercury Nuvo Crystal Drops.

On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! ‘Joy to the World’ Paper Pumpkin stampset (Paper Pumpkin is a subscription box so this stampset is not available for purchase) with Suede Shoes ink and adhered the silver star shape that I had cut out of one of the ornaments.

Window Card Using a Laminator featuring Simon Says Stamp

Happy Monday friends! Hope you are safe and had a good weekend. Today I am bringing you this card featuring a faux shaker. I saw this technique used by Jennifer McGuire and I decided to try it. I made it simpler by using pattern paper and some stamped snowflakes.

I started by cutting a piece of Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue 100lb Card Stock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″, to create a card base. I cut out a strip from the front of the card base, measuring 1-1/4” in height and then two strips of the stories from the Carta Bella Santa’s Workshop 6 x 6 Designer Papers (discontinued), each measuring 1-1/2 x 5-1/2”.

I took some sequins and added them inside a laminating pouch and ran that through a lamination machine. I trimmed it down to approximately 3 x 5-1/2” and adhered it between the card base pieces and the pattern pieces using 1/4” double sided tape.

I stamped a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp CHRISTMAS CHEER Stamps onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Catherine Pooler Midnight Ink. Then cut it down to 3/8 x 2-3/4” and adhered it to the card. I also stamped some snowflakes with Tim Holtz Festive Berries Distress Oxide Ink, fussycut them out and adhered them to the card.

On the inside of the card, I adhered two strips of another pattern paper from the Carta Bella Santa’s Workshop 6 x 6 Designer Papers (discontinued), each measuring 1-1/2 x 5-1/2”, to the back of the front panel. Then I stamped another greeting from the Simon Says Stamp CHRISTMAS CHEER Stamps with Tim Holtz Festive Berries Distress Oxide Ink.

Using Stickers to Create a Slimline Christmas Card

Stickers are a great way to create quick cards and who doesn’t like quick cards for the holidays, right?!? I had some leftover stickers from the Carta Bella Paper – Santa’s Workshop Collection, Christmas, 12 x 12 Cardstock Stickers featured in the Says Stamp December 2018 Card Kit, Holiday Cheer (sold out) so I decided to use them on a slimline card. The larger sticker like the Santa and reindeer one are great fro slimline cards!

I started by cutting a piece of Says Stamp Green Leaf Card Stock 100# 8.5 x 11″ to 7 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 3-1/2″ to create a slimline card base and a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 3-1/4 x 8-1/4” for the top panel. I also cut another piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 1-1/2 x 8-1/2” and used the Lawn Fawn Slimline Stitched Hillside Borders Die Cuts to diecut a snowy hillside.

I used Versamark Ink to stamp the snowflake pattern from the Simon Says Stamp CHRISTMAS CHEER Stampset all over the background and heat embossed it with WOW OPAQUE BRIGHT WHITE Super Fine Embossing Powder. I used Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and Tim Holtz Salty Ocean Oxide Ink to ink blend the background and adhered it to the card base. I adhered the snowy hillside to the card as well, leaving the top edge without glue. I adhered the Christmas tree from Carta Bella Paper – Santa’s Workshop Collection, Christmas, 12 x 12 Cardstock Stickers behind the hillside and the Santa on his sleigh on top of the hillside.

I stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Clear CHRISTMAS CHEER Stampset onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Stampin’ Up! Real Red Ink, cut it to 1-3/16 x 2-1/8 and adhered it to the card. I finished it off by adding Tonic White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops.

On the inside of the card, I stamped another greeting from the Simon Says Clear CHRISTMAS CHEER Stampset with Stampin’ Up! Real Red Ink and added a reindeer from the Carta Bella Paper – Santa’s Workshop Collection, Christmas, 12 x 12 Cardstock Stickers.

Lawn Fawn Build-A-House Die: Gingerbread Houses

Hello friends. I’m back today with cards featuring an adorable die from Lawn Fawn. It’s the Build-A-House Die and the Build-A-House Christmas Add-On Dies. I decided to make Gingerbread Houses using the Lawn Fawn Sweet Christmas stampset. This little house can be used on a card or as a standalone card as I will show you in this post. I love decorating gingerbread houses. It’s so much fun and they just look so cute. Do you like making gingerbread houses for Christmas? What holiday traditions do you and your family have?

I made four gingerbread houses with this die. I was able to create several different looks using the Lawn Fawn Sweet Christmas stampset. Here’s how these came together…

I started by diecutting all the house bases from Lawn Fawn Paper Bag 8.5 x 11″ Cardstock. I also diecut two roofs from Lawn Fawn Paper Bag 8.5 x 11″ Cardstock and two from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5″X11″, four square and four arch windows from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5″X11″ the back pieces for the windows in Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5″X11″, four chimneys from Lawn Fawn Paper Bag 8.5 x 11″ Cardstock, and the doors, one in each of Lawn Fawn Paper Bag 8.5 x 11″ Cardstock, Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5″X11″, Simon Says Stamp Green Apple 100lb Card Stock, and Stampin’ Up! Real Red 8.5 x 11″ Cardstock. I also diecut three wreaths from the Build-A-House Christmas Add-On Dies in Simon Says Stamp Green Apple 100lb Card Stock and three bows from Stampin’ Up! Real Red 8.5 x 11″ Cardstock.

Next I inked the edges of all the pieces cut from Lawn Fawn Paper Bag Cardstock and the red and green doors with Tim Holtz Distress® Ink Pad Gathered Twigs to make them look more like gingerbread cookies since the real ones would probably have a little browned edge to them.

I assembled all the houses, but left the window off since I wanted to color the backgrounds and add images inside the windows. I turned one house into a card by tracing one of the house bases and fussycutting it out. I did it this way instead of using the die so that the window hole at the top of the house isn’t present. I scored the top edge of that piece and adhered it to one of the houses. It’s best to adhere the card back before adhering the chimney or the roof. I set those aside and moved onto the stamping…

I stamped several of each of the images from Lawn Fawn Sweet Christmas stampset onto Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I stamped many, many more of the candy images than the trees and the gingerbread people since I knew I was going to use them to decorate my houses. After all what is a gingerbread house without lots of candy?!? I colored the images using COPIC markers. All the gingerbread people were colored using E33 and E37, C3 and the blender (0) for the white trim. I used R5 and R17 for the bow tie. I used YG13 and G94 for the trees as well as E37 and E29 for the trunk. For the candy canes and peppermint sticks I used R5 and R17. The rest of the candy and gumdrops were colored with R5 and R17, YG13 and G94, BG000 and BG01, R81 and R85, BV00 and BV11. I also colored all the window backgrounds with Y00 and Y13.

I added highlights to the images with a Uni-Ball Signo Broad Point Gel Pen – White. I added Nuvo Drops in Gloss Simply White in for the gingerbread people’s buttons and Autumn Red for the ornaments on the trees. Then I diecut them all with their respective dies. This is the most time consuming part of these cards — the coloring and diecutting. So keep that in mind if you want to make these cards, especially in multiples as I have done here. If you don’t like coloring these might not be the cards for you. But you can also just do basic coloring, no shading, with any markers.

Time to create the individual cards. I created 3 card bases using Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″, cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″and scored at 4-1/4″.

For the first card, I cut a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 4 x 5-1/4″ and ink blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad TUMBLED GLASS and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad SALTY OCEAN to create a sky. I sprayed some water using my Tim Holtz 4oz. DISTRESS SPRAYER, let it sit for a few seconds and dabbed it with a paper towel, then added splatters with some Delta Creative Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in White and a small paintbrush.

I diecut a hillside from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Borders Die and inked around the bottom edge with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad TUMBLED GLASS. I adhered the sky panel and the snowy hillside to the card base with 3M Foam Tape. I added a tree and a yellow background to the square window and a tiny gingerbread man to the arch window and a yellow background and added those to the house. I adhered the house to the card, placing some foam tape just behind the top half of the house to even it out on the card. I decorated the house with peppermint sticks and peppermint candies. I also added a tiny peppermint candy to the door and a larger gingerbread man to the roof of the house. And added two trees in the background and some candies as well.

I stamped a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Merry Messages onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″, measuring 3-3/4 x 1/2″, with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink and adhered it using some 3M Foam Tape. I finished it off by adding some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Autumn Red to the door for a doorknob, Nuvo Drops in Gloss Simply White to the chimney, roof, windows and the edges to simulate frosting, and WHITE BLIZZARD Nuvo Glitter Drops to the background and the edge of the snowy hillside.

On the inside of the card, I stamped another sentiment from Lawn Fawn Merry Messages with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink and added peppermint candies scattered.

For the second card, I cut a piece of blue plaid paper from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid Spring 6 x 6 Paper (retired) to 4 x 5-1/4″ and ink blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad TUMBLED GLASS to create a sky.

I diecut a hillside from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Borders Die and inked around the bottom edge with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad TUMBLED GLASS. I adhered the sky panel and the snowy hillside to the card base with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I added a tree and a yellow background to the square window and a gingerbread man peeking from the arch window and a yellow background and added those to the house. I adhered the house to the card, placing a piece of scrap cardstock behind the top half of the house to even it out on the card. I decorated the house with peppermint sticks and peppermint candies and added a tiny wreath and bow (from the build-A-House Christmas Add-on set) to the door. I created a fence with the candy canes on the hillside. I added a gingerbread family, lollipops, and peppermint candies as well.

I stamped a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Merry Messages onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink, fussycut it out and adhered it flat using some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I finished it off by adding some Nuvo Drops in Gloss Simply White to the chimney, roof, windows and the edges to simulate frosting, the sky and the door knob and WHITE BLIZZARD Nuvo Glitter Drops to the edge of the snowy hillside.

On the inside of the card, I stamped another sentiment from Lawn Fawn Merry Messages with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink and added candy canes at the bottom edge.

For the third card, I cut a piece of grey and white plaid paper from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid Winter 6 x 6 Paper (retired) to 4 x 5-1/4″ and ink blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad TUMBLED GLASS and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad SALTY OCEAN to create a sky.

I diecut a hillside from Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Borders Die and inked around the bottom edge with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad TUMBLED GLASS. I adhered the sky panel and the snowy hillside to the card base with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I added a gingerbread man and a yellow background to the square window and just a yellow background to the arch window and added those to the house. I adhered the house to the card, placing a piece of scrap cardstock behind the top half of the house to even it out on the card. I decorated the house with gumdrops and lollipops. I also added a tiny wreath and bow (from the build-A-House Christmas Add-on set) to the door.

I stamped a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Merry Messages onto a piece of Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink, fussycut it out and adhered it flat using some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I finished it off by adding some Nuvo Drops in Gloss Simply White to the chimney, roof, windows and the bottom of the house to simulate frosting, the sky and the door knob.

On the inside of the card, I stamped another sentiment from Lawn Fawn Merry Messages with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink and added Lollipops at the bottom edge.

For the fourth card, I added a large peppermint candy to the top window and a tree and a and a yellow background to the square window and added those to the house. I added a tiny wreath and bow (from the build-A-House Christmas Add-on set) to the door and candy canes on either side of the door. I added peppermint sticks to the roof and peppermint candies to the bottom of the house and finished it off by adding some Nuvo Drops in Gloss Simply White to the roof and chimney.
