Fall Card Series #7: Creating a Faux Embossed Background Using Word Dies

Hello friends. There are still a few more weeks left of Fall and even though I’ve been knee deep in Christmas card making, I wanted to make some more Fall cards. I brought out some Honey Bee Stamps stamps and dies for this one. An easy way to make a dimensional background without having to emboss is to use diecuts.

For this card, I cut a piece of Neenah 100lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create a card base, another piece to 4 x 5-1/4″, and a piece of Catherine Pooler Designs Sunflower Fields Forever 6 x 6 Paper to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″.

I die cut a bunch of die cut words from Neenah 100lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ using the Honey Bee Stamps Honey Cuts Autumn Die (retiring soon) which I glued to the white panel.

I stamped some images from the Honey Bee Stamps Happy Fall Y’all 4×6 Stamp Set onto Neenah 100lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored them with Copic Markers. I used Y13, Y18, & Y18, E25 & E29, and YG25 for the sunflower; YG03, YG25 & YG67 for the stems and leaves; Y13, Y18, & Y18, C5 & C9, R20, BG10 & 0 (blender) for the bees. I use the coordinating dies to cut out the images. I popped up the bee with Stampin’ Up! Stampinโ€™ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps Autumn Stampset (recently retired) onto Neenah 100lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5 X 11″ with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

On the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn THANKS THANKS THANKS Stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and added a strip of pattern paper from Catherine Pooler Designs Sunflower Fields Forever 6 x 6 Paper measuring 1 x 4-1/4″ as well as a sunflower and bee.

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Thank Yous

3 Easy Thank You Cards and Using Leftover Scraps featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Guilded Autumn Suite

Hello friends. Need some quick thank you cards for Fall or Thanksgiving? Normally I would say these would be great to give a host after attending their dinner party. But since this year’s celebrations will look very different and we may not be gathering with friend and family, you can send these after receiving a gift or to a teacher for all the hard work they have had to do during these uncertain times. I made 3 cards and then found myself with extra leaf pieces from the squares I punched out so I made a fourth card.

I started by cutting a piece of Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create 3 card bases. I diecut three panels using the smallest rectangle from Lawn Fawn’s Large Slimline with Sliders Die Cuts and trimmed them down to 5-1/2 in length each. I used two pieces of Very Vanilla 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock and one from Copper Foil 12 x 12 Paper. You can use any stitched rectangle die you may have in your stash.

I stamped the leaves from the Beautiful Autumn Stampset on the card base in the same ink as the Cardstock. I used Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso Inks and adhered the stitched strips of Very Vanilla 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock and Copper Foil 12 x 12 Paper to the card base. I used my Stamparatus to stamp them in the same exact spot on all the cards. I also stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Autumn Stampset in Early Espresso Ink on the Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze cards and heat embossed with Versamark Ink and Gold Emboss Powder on the Early Espresso card.

I die cut three 1-3/16โ€ squares from the Guilded Autumn 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper using the Layering Squares Dies, punched out the leaves with the Autumn Punch Pack, and adhered those to three 1-7/16โ€ squares in Very Vanilla 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock, Copper Foil 12 x 12 Paper, and Gold Foil 12 x 12 Paper, respectively. On the Cajun Craze card, I backed the images with Early Espresso 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock and then the Copper Foil 12 x 12 Paper, and on the Early Espresso card, I back the images with Very Vanilla, Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock, respectively and adhered them to the stitched panels. I added some Linen Thread to each and adhered them to the card bases. And that completes the front of the cards.

On the inside of the cards, I added two pieces of Guilded Autumn 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper to each. One I cut to 1 x 5-1/2โ€ and another to 1-3/16 x 5-1/2โ€ and adhered them to the cards. I cut two pieces of Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4โ€ for the Cajun Craze and Early Espresso cards before adhering the Guilded Autumn 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper.

So after punching out all the leaves from the Guilded Autumn 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper, I had a bunch of patterned leaves, so I made another card! I started again by cutting a piece of Early Espresso 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create a card base. Then diecut a panel using the smallest rectangle from Lawn Fawn’s Large Slimline with Sliders Die Cuts and trimmed them down to 5-1/2 in length each. I used Gold Foil 12 x 12 Paper this time. I diecut three 1-7/16″square windows in the panel.

I stamped the leaves from the Beautiful Autumn Stampset on the card base in the same ink as the Cardstock, making sure not to stamp the leaves in the windows. I used Early Espresso Ink for this one. I stamped a sentiment from the Beautiful Autumn Stampset with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder.

I added 3M Foam Tape to the back of the stitched gold foil piece and adhered it to the card base. I diecut three 1-3/16″ squares from Very Vanilla 8-1/2 x 11″ Cardstock using the Layering Squares Dies, adhered the leftover leaf images to each one, and adhered them inside the windows. And this completed this card.

On the inside of this card, again I cut a piece of Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4โ€ and added two pieces of Guilded Autumn 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper, measuring to 1 x 5-1/2โ€ and 1-3/16 x 5-1/2โ€.
